Rhino Bug

Today's speedpaint for Conceptart.org's daily sketch group.  The prompt was "Emerging from the rainforest haze and heat . . . a giant beast."

This one started out as a giant rhinoceros/ rollie pollie creature, but I ended up pulling in some ideas I got at a museum the other day from a South African Porcupine.  They have these crazy striped quills that I find rather beautiful. I think there's some Jurassic Park influence in there as well lol :)

American Ride

A quick sketch and digital paint-up inspired by BYU television's (link --->) American Ride, quite possibly one of the coolest shows ever :)  It's basically the Magic Schoolbus with a Harley.  The host is Stan Ellsworth, a motorcyclist, former NFL Linebacker, and history teacher.  He rides his steel horse across the country and teaches about its history, from first colonization to the American Revolution to . . . well, it's still going, but currently he's starting a section about the Civil War.  I recommend checking it out, he's a great storyteller with a definite new perspective.
