Aquabats: first exposure

Lol tonight's weekly Fiasco (movie night) featured "The Aquabats Supershow!"  I think I may have found a new distraction . . . .

The Miner

A quick sketch from last night.  I think his somber expression is a reflection of my exhaustion lol . . . but I have this thing where sometimes I can't stop drawing.

Nutella the Hun

Lol this one's been floating around in my head for a while.  It's a silly idea, but sometimes you gotta be true to your inner cheese-ball ;}  Oftentimes cheese and awesome come as a package deal lol; my apologies to the lactose intolerant :)

Making Memories

My girflriend and I took a trip to Wyoming to visit my family last week, which was an absolute blast. This is a painting of an experience from Saturday. We were in the middle of a cloud during a rainstorm, a frightening experience but also a very beautiful one. Not much luck fishing, but we made some good memories :)  My girlfriend and I are in the foreground, my family fishing in the background

Noadiah the Back-Country Mutant Mole

This one's for conceptart.org's daily sketch.  The theme:  "Giant brute fighting fast small imp".

I didn't know quite where I was going when I started to sketch, and so I ended up with something really weird lol.  But it was fun.  One of my favorite concept methods is to start with some rough doodles and tell myself a story as I go, refining accordingly.  The story for this paint-up goes something like this (cue banjo):

Jeb and Noadiah are a couple of redneck brothers who grew up together in the back country of the Appalachian Mountains.  They don't go to town often, except to get ammunition and comic books.  Slowly but surely though, civilization encroaches on their back-country paradise.  One day while Jeb and Noadiah are out hunting with their favorite wrinkly basset hound, they realize a nuclear waste disposal site has been built right over their favorite deer stand.  Upset at first, they forgive the polluters when they discover that radioactive waste pouring into the river has made the serviceberries grow to an enormous size.  Jeb is skeptical, but Noadiah digs in and promptly mutates into a giant mole creature.  Cue mayhem.

So . . . yeah. Yay for stream of consciousness!  Now that I think about it, it could have been fun to have them both mutate into giant mole creatures and wreak havok on the nuclear waste plant, but then I would lose track of the theme . . . regardless, a fun springboard.

An Autobiographical Sketch

Fly wet willies . . . not a pleasant experience.  Those things have no personal space, it's obnoxious. Someone needs to teach them some grammar.  Er, manners.  Lol it's time to go to sleep :)
